Easy Beer Bread

If you’ve ever skipped bread recipes because you thought they would be too difficult, this is one you don’t want to miss out on! This beer bread is dense, rich, buttery, with the perfect hint of yeasty taste from the beer.

My mom would make this throughout our teen years, and serve it as a side to a hot soup. When my mom passed the recipe down to me I was shocked by how easy it was! It’s now a staple when I’m making a hearty soup during the chilly months.

You can make your own slight variations to the bread based on what beer you choose. Get creative with your favorite seasonal beers! My mom told me she liked to use a pumpkin ale during the fall. The alcohol does cook out, making it a family-friendly recipe.

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 12 oz room temperature beer
  • (submerge in hot water if chilled)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 stick butter
Directions:
  1. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, beer, and cheese. Mix together.
  2. Pour into a sprayed loaf pan.
  3. Melt butter, and drizzle over the top.
  4. Bake for 35 minutes on 350 degrees.
